About the Opportunity
Berkeley Animal Hospital is seeking an experienced Practice Manager to join our growing team. This position is available as our current manager transitions back to school in August, creating an excellent opportunity for a new leader to step into a well-established role and help guide our continued expansion.
We are a newly constructed, privately owned small animal hospital located in Berkeley, CA, offering general practice, urgent care, dentistry, and surgery, along with visiting specialists in cardiology, internal medicine, and surgery. Our hospital is built around Fear Free and low-stress handling techniques, and we are currently pursuing Fear Free certification.
About Our Facility:
- 3,000 sq ft modern hospital.
- 4 exam rooms + consult/discharge room.
- Separate dental suite with digital dental X-ray.
- Dedicated surgery suite with electrocautery.
- Digital radiology and ultrasound.
- Companion animal laser.
- Idexx in-house lab equipment (CBC, chemistry, UA, clotting).
- Cloud-based Neo software, Weave phones, Televet communication.
- Cubex system for controlled drugs.
- Open 7 days a week from 9 am-7 pm.
Growth & Expansion
We are planning a major expansion this year, including additional exam rooms, separate cat and dog entrances, and a larger treatment area with a dedicated office for the Practice Manager.
About the Role
The Practice Manager plays a key leadership role in ensuring smooth daily operations while helping build systems and processes to support our continued growth.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee daily hospital operations, including workflow, scheduling, and team coordination.
- Lead, mentor, and support staff, including hiring, training, and performance management.
- Develop and implement protocols and standard operating procedures.
- Manage financial operations including budgeting, payroll, and expense tracking.
- Maintain inventory and vendor relationships.
- Ensure compliance with all regulations, safety standards, and licensing requirements.
- Support client experience by addressing concerns and maintaining high service standards.
- Assist with marketing and business development initiatives.
About You:
- Minimum 2 years of experience in veterinary medicine.
- Prior management or leadership experience required.
- Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to build systems and lead a growing team.
- Passion for animal care and client relationships.
